How to get the most from your ipod

This is my guide to getting the most out of your ipod. I have searched around a lot in the last couple of weeks and this is what I have come up with:

before you install any of the following software you need to stop itunes from thinking it can run your ipod. To do this, plug your ipod in, when itunes opens and your ipod appears on the left of the page, right click your ipod and select options. When the options window opens tell itunes you want to manage your own music and that you don't want it to open when you plug your ipod in. These steps are important to stop itunes removing stuff from your ipod (or even wiping it).

Best for maintaining the contents of your ipod
Anapod. Be sure to buy the universal licence as it means you can add more ipods and install it on more computers. You also get free upgrades and free related software (including photo uploading stuff). The cheaper licences all have limits on them. Don't say I didn't warn you.
What does it do?
It allows you to drag and drop stuff onto your computer like you do with a file system.
It allows you to easily back up your ipod.
It allows you to upload images to your (video) ipod
It can automatically create playlists for the music you upload to it.
The list goes on, it is amazing.

Best for maintaining your music collection
Music Monkey. This allows you to create mp3s from your cds easily. You are also able to turn (large) wav and wma files that you have on your computer into smaller mp3s. There is no need to upgrade to the pro account once you have installed as the basic one does everything you should need.

Best for sorting your music tags making mixes and finding new stuff you like but didn't know about
Music IP Mixer. This allows you to edit the tags of your music files in batches or individually. The tags is how your ipod sorts your music into artist etc (it doesn't use the file name).
It will also analyse all your music and update the tags automatically. It takes quite a long time as it checks your files against an online database but it does a great job.
You can pick a track and it will find other tracks you have that it thinks go together. Doesn't do a bad job of making mixes basically. Finally it will check what you are listening to and suggest other artists (you don't have) that you might like.

putting any dvd onto your ipod video
I suggest you just follow the steps here. If your careful you should do it first time. They work out between 500mb and 700mb. Be sure to pic only english with the greatest number of chennels when choosing your sound selection. The lower number channel version (such as 2) is often commentary!
